Carpet made from an original design by Giacomo Balla: “Espansione + Luce” produced in 1897 in a limited edition in Sardinia in the workshop of Antonia Spanu Mesina (Dorgali) under license from the heirs, using an original design from 1925. Hand-knotted with a high pile, it can be used both on the floor and as a wall tapestry. Giacomo Balla (18 July 1871 – 1 March 1958) was an Italian painter known for being one of the founders of the Futurism artistic movement. His life and artistic career were characterized by profound experimentation, creativity and a constant commitment to exploring new ways of representing dynamism and movement through art. In addition to painting, Balla also devoted himself to applied art and the design of objects. He collaborated with the architect and designer Fortunato Depero to create decorative works of art, including furniture, lamps and fabrics, which incorporated the Futurist principles of dynamism and modernity. These projects show the extension of his creativity beyond the canvas and his willingness to integrate art into everyday life.
