MAMLUK RUG

The typical design of Mamluk rugs is characterized by a rich decoration with a kaleidoscopic effect, with a wide variety of characteristic motifs such as small umbrella leaves that some identify as papyrus leaves, typically Egyptian plant. Another feature of these rugs is that their complex and intricate design is made with a narrow color gamut, normally of only three shades: red, green and blue.
