Bakhtiyari carpets take their name from of the largest and best-known nomadic tribes in Persia. They pride themselves in a particular blend of strength and creativity, for a very distinctive yet quintessentially Persian flair. Many personalities of the cultural and political life of Persia came from this tribe. Knotting is the most practiced craft of the Bakhtiyari and although it is primarily practiced by women job, it can also be performed by their khans, the rulers of the tribes.
