CINA ART DECO’ OVALE

This small Chinese rug with an unusual oval shape is decorated with a motif very dear to the Chinese tradition. On a brick red background, two peacocks with a stylized feather wheel are represented on the two narrow sides. The rich external frame is decorated with a cascade of flowers. The peacock feather was the highest honor in the Chinese Empire. The peacock symbolizes longevity, love, but also spring and rebirth.
