This beautiful carpet hails from the city of Ushak, and it has been crafted in Mohair wool.
The particular characteristic of mohair, in addition to its luster, is its “nervousness”, which makes it the most elastic and crease-resistant natural fiber. Because of these characteristics it is often mixed with less noble wools to create rugs with unmistakable shine and softness. The decoration stems from a classic central medallion pattern: an octagon with a toothed wheel in the center.
