Although Müren was best known for his music, extravagant costumes and feminine makeup, very few people know that he was also a talented textile designer and that carpets made with his designs in the 1960s and 1970s are today subject of a great revaluation by admirers and collectors. Some have jewel-like geometric patterns, others feature bold abstract shapes in seventies colors. Most Zeki Müren carpets were made in Isparta, in southwestern Turkey, but some were also made in a town called Demirci near Manisa, which wove a softer weave than Isparta. What we present is emblematic of the 70s taste, with abstract designs and bright colors.
