Mamelucchi rugs are characterized by a decoration with large medallions. They were tied in Cairo during the reign of the Mamluk dynasty (1250-1517). Today they are reproposed by an Afghan factory with the characteristics of carpets knotted centuries ago: vegetable colors, wool spun by hand, all respecting traditions.
