War rugs originated near Herat in northwest Afghanistan, woven by members of tribal groups with a long tradition of knotting. Many of the war rugs are attributed to the Baluci weavers, a nomadic tribe of different ethnicities occupying a vast region between the Afghan-Iranian border. Our model is particularly refined and in its way harmonious in decoration. The wool is soft and shiny. Like all nomad rugs, warp and weft are made of wool.
