Twenty years ago, when I first saw patchwork carpets in Turkey, I thought it was a clever way to recycle old carpet pieces that restorers had in abundance. Later on, I began to appreciate them because I would sometimes find fragments of collectible carpets within them. However, the success of patchwork carpets was solidified by American interior designers who saw in them the opportunity to use them in any type of decor.
